IT but Needful Things runs a close second. The characters from IT are so achingly real that I wished the book would never end (and while reading it was terrified what would become of them).

Needful Things comes in second.

I really enjoyed Rose madder. A scary tale of domestic violence and fantasy escapism.
I liked them all, but I am now on the second dark tower book. The drawing of the three.I am really enjoying them.

The Gunslinger

that was until he killed it by writing lots of sequels turning it into a literary epic which condescended the reader, prostituted his other works, and removed the romantic mysticism from the original.

Still, by itself, The Gunslinger rules.

I have difficulty reading his books...I managed to complete 'misery' on the second attempt but felt etremely paranoid afterwards, I gave up on 'cujo' - I won't read 'it' as I am not fond of clowns - BUT I did enjoy a book full of short stories by him....wasn't so nerve-wracking...
