i believe this is true, i believe that this is true because when you feel emotions, (anger, saddens) you say things without thinking, and they seem to come out of your mouth so fast, (like a speeding bullet) as well, they are so powerful, (because of the emotions, that your already feeling) once you say something ,its not like you can re-do it, rewind and never say it, it just lingers there in the air.
Words are like feathers, because its so easy for you to bring your opinions and what you say with you, you talk where ever you go.
But when you say hateful words they are heavy and they drag a part of the person you said them into dispare.
Words are very powerful, they are things that you say, they cant be eased or forgotten, once they are said, its done.
but also, words that are encouraging that are said are also never forgotten, and when people say these to others it just helps everyone be happy.
i think that words are positve and negitive things, our voices are like a paintbrush, just because you have one, you cant make it do wonderful things, you actually have to make an attempt yourself.

Words are very powerful. I never really understood that until i read my first book at the ripe age of 20. I was sitting in my humvee in the army when i picked up a book that was laying there and it was like magic. I am 30 now and i have a library full of books I enjoy my life alot more. I have became a more well rounded individual because of the power of words!!!

I agree with you that words are the 'most powerful thing in this universe. You can't 'define' anything without them, but you can 'play with them' and the definition becomes a joke. You can hurt and you can help with words ...
My name is Kris and 99.9% of people think it's an 'alternate spelling' of the word Christ since I'm a Christian. It's actually the name of a Hindu sacrificial knife that was given to me as a name by a Vedantist guru. He knew I was studying psychology, and he gave me my name because the kris is a knive with a 'curved blade' that is sharpened on both sides, so that I could remember that I could do just as much harm with my 'advice' as I could help people with it. I LOVE MY NAME and had it legally changed to Kris ... I 'never felt like' I was a Karen Ann, but have ALWAYS felt like a Kris ... and that is part of that 'power of words' that you are talking about.

Words are everything; especially the handwritten variety. I believe we are losing the ability to write down words because of the over dependence on texting, mobiles and emails. The abbreviations connected with texting are particularly worrying.
I write everyday. I keep a journal, running into hundreds and thousands of words and I also write letters to friends.
It is important to be able to articulate words as well. So much modern language is awful, e.g. "get a life" or "Am I bothered" or "Get out of my face." Awful destruction of the English language.

Words themselves have "NO" power at all. They are actually several letters put together. The only power that a word can have is the intent of the person using it, or the power of perception of the one hearing it. Sticks and stones remember?

Yes, words are powerful. Without words, we would not be able to communicate. But, I don't think they are heavier than a rain drop. They have NO weight.

Yes words are very very powerful. Things that even strangers say can stick in one's head for very very long. Words can speak louder than actions, despite what some say.
Very true very true.

Words are everything. Without words there would be nothing. The baby has to have a name in order to exist!

They sure are, but sadly the younger generation seems to know only foul words. It really shows a lack of intelligence and a very limited vocabulary.
