Needs synchronising with the car's security system. Open door with key manually, insert key and switch on ignition. Press and hold the lock or unlock button on the key. After a few seconds the locks should fire twice, and then the plip should work ok. NB might need door open or closed, not sure which

Sounds obvious but is it the correct battery fitted the right way round, did you clean it before fitting ? sometimes they have a protective film on the contacts, Lastly was it working before you fitted a new battery (if the old battery was not exhausted could be the sensor in the vehicle)

Did you not change it quick enough? in that case you need to reset the key with the car. Am not sure how to do this. Try putting the key in the ignition, lock the door by hand and unlock by the key keeping it in ignition,
Any trouble it will be in the Hayes manual.

It sounds like it will need to be re-programmed. From what I understand, it only takes about 5 minutes at the dealership. Or there are places online where you can order the instructions to do it yourself, if you are so inclined.

I had this problem with my motor, you have make sure the battery is making connection with the contacts.

EITHER WRONG BATTERY OR NOT IN CORRECT TAKE IT OUT AND TRY TURNING IT ROUND BUT TRY AND SEE IF THERES A PICTURE SHOWING HOW TO INSERT sorry for higher case
