Of course we got our arrogant and conceited clods who think they are "perfect". But the reality is humans are not perfect. And that includes me. Some religious, especially Christians, think humans can be "perfect" by being "saints". Or some intellectual idiots think is the economic systems, Marxists and others, that makes us humans "imperfect". Or Nietzsche, the German philosopher, who thought humans can evolve to become "perfect". Or Scientologists, crooks they are, who think humans can reach "perfections" through "auditing thethans", or whatever. I say is all balony. Humans are not perfect and will never be perfect. What do you think?

One of the problems with the idea that this could happen is the idea that there is such a thing as a single definition of perfection, be it in humans or anything else.

In the case of humans, one of the things that makes us so wonderful is that we are all unique. Unfortunately most people see others (and often themselves) as being less than "ideal" instead of simply seeing themselves as unique.

If we "evolved" to be "perfect" we would all be the same ... and what would be the fun of that?

Perfection is only possible for that which is perfect by its own nature. Human nature is imperfect, and therefore, we cannot make ourselves perfect, even through the most intense acts of will. Evolution toward perfection circulates widely in Western culture, but there is no real basis for this belief, at least from an appeal to empirical evidence. What might be possible is to participate, by more or less degrees in a trascendent reality that is perfect. This participation metaphysic, which has been part of western philosophy, at least since Plato, might be our only route of access to a glimpse of perfection, outside a divine revelation.

No, humans are not perfect. They can not evolve to be perfect. To be mortal is to be flawed. Our souls may be perfect once they have shed their bodies & are heading toward Heaven but until then, we fall short.

I'm pretty f-ing far from perfect. I used to knock myself out trying to be & drove myself nuts (but hey, it made me a driven straight-A multi-award-winning student and pushed me to do many other things.) Then at some point I realized, ok no I'm not perfect but that's ok. The important thing is to love yourself as you are.

Some people think that they're perfect & that they know everything & they try to make other people just like them. Scientology takes a lot of flack. From what little I know about it there are pros & cons. I think any belief system that encourages positive thinking & personal power is awesome however, I don't know that I agree with some of the practices & I have met some larger than life personalities who were less than sympathetic (they actually don't believe in sympathy)...

You can try to improve yourself, love yourself, be the best you can be, increase your power, well-being, positive thinking etc but I don't think you ever actually reach perfection & to have such a goal is unrealistic & can be crippling. If you need perfection then you are doomed to be constantly disappointed & never feel good enough. You need to cut yourself some slack & realize, "Hey, I'm human!" We all have strengths & weaknesses. We all have issues. We all deal with them differently.

I'm having a rough day myself but I will survive & tomorrow is a new day...

All we can do is the best we can. No one reaches perfection. Even the most self-actualized, happy, well-functioning person has their issues, their rough moments, their little mistakes. If not, we wouldn't be human. Anyone who believes he is perfect is deluded...

no
humans have stopped evolving because we are intelligent enough to adapt through behaviour rather than physiology and because we protect the weak.
i think we are destined to gradually become weaker. the incidence of allergy rises every generation. we become more insular and more detached from the environment.
suggested reading: H. G. Wells, 'The Time Machine', says a lot about human evolution in the future and a bl**dy good read!

the reasons why we look at ourselves as imperfect rather than perfect is because we always wants to have something that we don't or cannot have but if only we will feel contented in our life and just make do what we have and can have then life will be perfect as it is but on the other hand come to look at it its is the wheels that grinds us to make progress and make life easier for the next generation before us. that makes us imperfect as is.

The way to perfection is far more interesting that the perfection itself...
But humans will never be perfect because well always find something we dont like about ourselves or the things around us...
Thats humanity!

As long as we serve and live in the fleshly bodies, we will not be perfect. The flesh wants food that is not good for it, relationships that are more passion than substance, and the perfect temperature of 75 degrees.

I agree with Nietzsche, I think we will evolve and become perfect one day. But what is it - to be perfect? I think it's when I'm in total harmony with myself and God, with my kins and all other people. Don't you think it's possible?

your question is not really good s it?
The problem is defining what perfection is.
My view of perfection is to be as close to the ideal of Heavenly Father as I can without actually being Him. But we will only know what that level of perfection is after our bodies are purified in the Resurrection
