This is a huge problem for security of privacy information. I prefer to give my name to someone rather than it just showing up with my email. Identity theft and unsolicited contacts or familiarity are all concerns.

If you are talking about Yahoo email...

On email page on the far right above the area where email shows as received, is a blue OPTIONS. Press this.

On the right hand list scroll down to General Preferences.

The first box is "From Name"...this is where you can change the name that shows up on your emails to anything you please. But I suggest that it be something that people can identify you by--maybe your username again?

Once changes are made, press SAVE, and you are done.

Depending on how you are sending your e-mail it may range from having to change your account to simply finding the option that sets the name on the e-mails. In Internet Explorer you go to Tools / Accounts /select the account if more than one / and where it has the name change it.
Be aware that if you change it too much some people are going to treat the mail as junk or spam.

Your email can still very easily be traced back to you if someone wants to ...with the help of your Email Headers ....unless you learn how to spoof the headers too ;-)
