I'm not sure as the camera angles couldn't really give me and accurate estimate of both sizes.

megatron was bigger than optimus prime in the movie..is was great and also bad at the same time...cuz yeah i always wanted to see transformer on the silver screen and Micheal bay was a good director for bigger explosion scene then the previous thought was the big explosion scene..the songs in there hits the note at the right timing too for car chase,fighting etc...
the bad side of it is,if sum-one is not a transformer fan and have no idea what's what or who's who then is just one big budget car ad..

The reason why megatron seems to be bigger than optimus for some people is because they have lower bodies which are different and megatron has much bigger legs than optimus. In terms of the upper body i think optimus and megatron are equal. So, ill say optimus is bigger ( I am biased, thats true XD )

Since this is the movie I'm talking about -- megatron. I think they purposely made him a tad stronger so that there would be that human intervention heroism thing... Plus so it wouldn't be cliche that the good guys keep winning easily
