Go to source and at bottom of page type in, slapped soldier, then click on , the slapping incidents. It will tell you all about it.

The man's name was purposely kept secret, fearing recrimination by Patton supporters. The Nazi brass never understood what the hullabaloo was all about. To them, slapping a soldier was all part of a day's work.

I don't know, but I like your question, so I starred it.
I know the role of the soldier in the film Patton was played by Tim Considine, but I don't even think they gave the soldier's name even in the credits--too bad.
Any historians with more and better information than I have out there?
