Tony Blair was an adequate PM before Iraq when he appeared, quite frankly to lose his mind and after that everything he did was mind-boggling.
The Labour Party totally screwed over old people and people who were preparing for retirement by making their pension plans worthless.
Brown has an uphill struggle. He is not the most charismatuc and unfortunately, it's all about appearances in politics these days. He is a hugely intelligent man and time will tell. I have to say though, I'd be amazed if they won another election, but then again, what's the alternative to Labour at the moment?

I'm in the US and I just love Tony Blair. I developed the upmost respect for him after Princess Diana was killed and he referred to her as "the people's princess". I'll never forget that, and him. He seemed like such a nice man, I'm sorry he had to get mixed up with Bush and everything that's happened since then.
I know that this wasn't your question, but I wanted to pipe in anyways. =)

Have you seen the movie "Queen"? Well, what the Queen purportedly told him has turned out to be prophetic - he just didn't know what hit him. That is the sad part about politics, nobody remembers the early promise, only the failures get talked about.
