Unfortunately there is not much you can do. I had the same thing happen with travelocity and they were not flexible at all. i was injured in a motor bike accident in Thailand. My total ticket price was under $900 and they wanted $250 to change the tickets. I ended up paying it with no choice in the matter. Travel insurance would cover something like this so that is a thing to think about in the future. However; They should be able to change your flight for a fee. Just like I did. I tell you..
I will never book with a discounter again. If something happens with an airline they are more than willing to be helpful. It gives you much more flexibility when you book direct.

If you are insured you should be able to claim your money back from them. But you will have to supply a doctors certifcate to prove you are unfit for travel
unfortunately if you did not take out insurance there is nothing you can do about it.
maybe you could find somebody else to take the holiday off your hands for you and pay for the name changes on the booking you probably won't get back the full amount you paid for it but it is better than losing all your money
Good luck and never forget insurance

Depends on what you have done and how you did it. Are you insured for cancellation if so and you get a form signed and filled in by your dr you can claim. The hol company do not have a legal obligation to refund or change

Always ensure that you are insured for exactly this reason.
My daughter and her husband had to pay for their air fares because her husband was taken ill at the last minute but they were able to fly to their holiday two days later but had to pay because they thought it wasnt necessary to insure. Now they have learnt their lesson.

If you have a cancellation insurence, you can claim your money back, no cancellation insurence then i think you have lost out.
