Depending on your age, you might try a varied selection.

For example, if you're at least a high school student, try:
The Brothers Karamazov (Fyodor Dostoevsky)
Crime and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoevsky)
Dante's Inferno (Dante Alighieri)
The Illiad and Odyssey (Homer)
The Stranger (Albert Camus)
Siddhartha (Hermann Hesse)
I, Robot (Isaac Asimov)
The Grapes of Wrath (John Steinbeck)
Great Expectations (Charles Dickens)
David Copperfield (Charles Dickens)
Les Miserables (Victor Hugo)
Of Human Bondage (Sumerset Maugham)
War and Peace (Leo Tolstoy)
Tom Jones (Henry Fielding)
Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen)
Pere Goriot (Honore de Balzac)
The Red and Black (Stendahl)
Wuthering Heights (Emily Bronte)
Madame Bovary (Gustave Flaubert)
Moby Dick (Herman Melville)

These books are considered timeless classics, and even if you 'think' you know the story because you saw the movie, trust me, the written works are far superior, because the true treasure is in the "way" the story is told.

My favorite book is "It's kind of a funny story" by Ned Vizzini. Its about a 15 year old guy going through depression, girls, getting high and thinking about suicide. its funny and depressing at the same time.

And another good one would be "You dont know me" by David Klass.
Its about a high school guy who has an abusive father, and the stuff he goes through..
