This is something that I cannot comprehend.
I don't just mean prostitution, but also pornographic 'actors/actresses'
Surely it is the most demeaning thing on the earth, selling your body for the pleasures of others, it must hold such a high emotional boundary that stops relationships from forming.
And what about the poor souls who are sold, who are human traffiked and are forced to do the most disgusting things against their will, do porn 'stars' not give a damn about these so unfortunate people?
I understand that some people go into the pornography industry because they are desperate for money, but does it really require having sex with a stranger?

Woah, I'm not judging at all!
I find this subject actually very upsetting, everyone deserves the best, but I do not understand how people can come to terms with selling their body, even if it is for money.
Your body is essentially the only thing that you own yourself.
And to whoever said sex is just a penis going in and out of a vagina- you're naive and there is so much more to it than that- ever heard of feelings? Or a conscience?

Hey, I grew up in a rehabilation house, all around prostitutes and drug addicts. I have two words for you, depression and addiction.
About 90% of the prostitues that came into that recovery house were doing it to get money to feed the habit. When you become addicted to something you are willing to do whatever you have to get that thing.
About the porn stars, have you seen myspace? There are thriteen years olds dressing in underwear calling themselves myspace whores. We live in a culture where every image, every music video you see your favourite female star dressing, dancing and acting provacitevly. We also see men wanting that woman so badly that young girls believe that its allright to be like that. Girls are also drawn to fame, being a porn star is a quick way to fame, a quick way to feel as though people want and love you.
In regards to the human trafficing and sex slavery that is cruel, horrible and sickening. I've heard horror stories about girls being kidnapped in China and sold becuase there isn't enough women to go around. Men should be disgusted with themselves to think that they have the right to take a girls virginity and abuse her.
I hope this helped and all of the above makes me sad, very sad that this is the world I live in.

I don't see the big deal. I'm not into any sort of porno, but hey, if you want it, buy it. If you want to participate in it, do so. Nothing wrong with it at all. The women get paid more than the men. Supply and demand-and all that. I would find it hard to believe that anyone is forced to do anything in that industry that they are not comfortable with. People have sex with strangers all the time without getting paid for it. Isn't that one of the benefits of nightclubs?
Human trafficking is something altogether different. It is a true abomination.
You want to know demeaning? Try working in the service industry where customers are allowed to treat you like hog sh!t. Been there, done that. Never again...

when you suck at everything else and feel depressed like hell all you have is prostitution. Most people go into it because they've probably been screwed around when they were young and just thrown away. They feel shame, but have no choice. When you ask if it really requires having sex with a stranger, you're basicaly just answering your own question, women have sex on their date all the time, but this way you get paid, in cash. Just think of it as a short term gold digger job.

Unfortunately they don't. It doesn't mean that much to them. And they're willing enough to have sex with a stranger at that. Heck people have sex with strangers in real life and forget about it the next day. But with the fame and fortune it brings, some people are more than willing to do just that.

Most women in porn are victims of sexual abuse of some kind. Why else would a woman have sex with a guy(s) and let someone film it for the whole world to see?

For the pursuit of money. As you have very little understanding of what motivates people then you may never understand, some people may actually like the pornographic industry, and as prostitution is the oldest trade known to man that I would guess would be your answer.

This is like asking how can people take drugs or eat cheese - it is one of those things and always will be. As with anything in life, if you do not agree with it then do not get involved.
