Plan for the big things...education, finances, etc. With that said, please allow for plenty of spontaneity in your life. It all goes by very quickly, and you need to have fun and enjoy yourself. Be serious when necessary, but don't be afraid of going along just to see where things might wind up.

You gotta try to plan some things out, but not all of your plans will work out, so you always have to be ready to "go with the flow."
Yes, I used to try to plan Everything in my life, but after receiving several let downs and some good advice, I have started trying to let go of some things. I still plan what I can, but I try to just wait and see where the world takes me on everything else.
I dunno...I'll let you know after I've finished everything.

Roll with the punches baby! I find that when I over plan I usually am disappointed as other unforeseen circumstances often interfere with my plans. I plan a little financially like buying RRSP's but everything else like Love, relationships and some career choices you should go with the flow.

i tend to just go with the flow. things seem to work out eventually. if i had a drawn out plan of my life, i wouldnt be able to cope because of all the pressure of getting those things i need to do done. also, planning your life out doesnt work in relationships. you can't help who you fall in love with. it just happens. sometimes, it's good to do some planning, just not of your whole life. like, i think the planning should come in when you're planning on what you want to do as part of work/a career

Put it this way. If you start on a journey without a map you will still end up somewhere. However, if you start with a map you will increase your chances of ending up where you want to be. So when you are ready to retire I think you will have wished that you had a bit of planning.

It always works out but usually never the way you plan:
To a Mouse, on Turning Her Up in Her Nest, With The Plough
But Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain;
The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men
Gang aft agley,
An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain,
For promis'd joy !
Still thou art blest, compar'd wi' me!
The present only toucheth thee:
But och! I backward cast my e'e,
On prospects drear!
An' forward, tho' I canna see,
I guess an' fear!
