FTP or File Transfer Protocol is used to transfer data from one computer to another over the Internet, or through a network. There are two computers involved in an FTP transfer: a server and a client.

Ann, ftp is acronym for File Transfer Protocol, a protocol for transferring files quickly over the internet. It is usually faster and more efficient than http.

The second part of your question should be a no-brainer for most people - the more you pour into a pipe, the longer it takes to get there. This is all relative of course, to the real size of the file.

ftp = file transfer protocol, (the address is used to upload folders/files onto a web server, which is done via a seporate programme.)

Larger the file size is the longer it takes to upload (& download for the user.) There is a limit on how much you can put on a server which is defined by the size of the server or limit by the hosting company.

from ftp any file can be uploaded or retrieved to a specific ftp addresse, (ftp://whatever.com) the user logs in via a username and password provided by the host/ server
