With the current attempted bombings in mind, I feel more and more that the exremists have declared war on us yet the government is trying to ignore that fact and offer branches of peace, revolve the room to screw the lightbulb in etc. If we formally declare war on Islamic EXTREMISTS (i.e. not Islam as a whole) we can then start to take a military position on suspects who become enemy combatants and thus aren't subject to the same rights as normal prisoners. While we are in so much danger, it is unfortunate but we should be able to take serious action against suspects without worrying about human rights etc (outside of the Geneva Convention). I know Muslims don't like being profiled but if it was ginger people doing this then I think it would be fair that all ginger people got stopped and searched more as it is simply a better allocation of resources - theres no point targetting British pensioners trying to get on a flight etc. There should be no more Mr Nice Guy - I want to be safe

Is it also true that you can still be hanged for Treason (and Piracy)? If so - when we catch these terrorists why aren't we charging them with treason as that's what it is - they are betraying our country. They should face military justice, not civil justice. If a few eggs get broken making scrambled eggs then as sad as that is it is better than the alternative of British people - including Muslims - getting blown to pieces in Iraq like situations. I fear that car bombings, roadside bombs etc will become a regular event here in the UK and we should do everything in our power to nip it in the bud. If someone supports terrorism i.e. says they agree with suicide bombings, that should be enough to have them removed from our shores - its okay to disagree with policy but it isn't ok to actively promote killing UK citizens of any creed or colour.

I rest my case - 2 Asian men just tried to car bomb Glasgow Airport this afternoon, this aint gonna stop moving forward, it's gonna be like Baghdad if we don;t do something. Cant beleive a guy on here says don't jump to conclusions that it's Muslims - wake up you muppet.

Londonminx you are spot on - moderate Muslims should passionately condemn this. Unfortunately, the powers that be are busy trying to 'make friends' and excuses with these communities rather than telling them to either exorcise their demons or ship out. Appeasement never works - Neville Chamberlain's capitulation to German demands guaranteed eventual war and history has condemned him for his weakness. We need to take a tough line on this I'm afraid and defend ALL our citizens against terror rather than appease the rights of a few extremists just so Labour can be seen to be PC.

You are totally right. Well said!

The rights of potential victims of terror should always come before the rights of possible terrorists. But sadly in the UK right now, this is not the case.

It's also frustrating that 'moderate' Muslims don't seem to step up and passionately condemn the Islamic fundamentalists.

The problem the way I see it is that Liberals in the US and Britain have decided that they do not want to fight wars. They think (erroneously, I believe) that if we talk to these people we can find out why they don't like us and than we can fix the problem. However, with extremist Muslims this will not work as the reason they don't like us is because we are not Muslim. They will tell you how to stop the bloodshed, convert to Muslim and start living by Sharia (?) law. I think you are correct, just declare war on extremist Muslims wherever they are. You folks in the UK seem to be getting the worse of it even though you have set a time frame up for withdrawal of your troops. You would think that your leaders would start getting the message that this is not what these people are going after and never was. God bless the UK and the USA. May he watch over our soldiers and sailors, our police and our fireman.

Is there a reason you like jumping to conclusions, because there's currently no reason whatsoever to believe that Muslims had anything to do with the ATTEMPTED car bombings in London.

Maybe you all just like getting yanked around on a short chain by American and British fearmongers.

I really love it how you have a situation like this where nothing even happened, and yet there are people like you screaming your heads off to "declare war on fundamental Islam" (as if that hasn't been done already). How many Muslims die on a DAILY basis because of America and England's reckless decisions to go to war? And YOU are the one righteously indignant about a couple car bombs that didn't even go off? When there isn't even evidence to link it to Muslims?

Seriously, what is wrong with you people?

Unfortunately, the Obama admin will NEVER declare war on the Islamist warriors because he IS an Islamist extremist in hiding! Make note of the utter lack of sincerity when he makes a public statement regarding terrorist acts in the name of Islam! The current president (intentional non caps) is as much an enemy of the US as any Islamo Fascist!

It's WAY past time! September 12, 2001 would have been a good time to start. BTW, if you're going to have a war, please have a real war, not a make-believe war.

You're right, but we are already at war. Bush said that very early on.
