Our 'education' system is geared towards passing exams to gain employment for the system as it now stands.
& not towards education in its broadest sense, or for the pleasure of learning and increasing ones knowledge.
A large part of our 'education' is spent enforcing conformity apon us, ''don't answer back, wear only the clothes we let you'' and so forth.
it is hardly surprising that people lose interest in personal education as soon as they can after having been force fed conformity from their youth.

It might be because your assertive and straightforward way of talking. Even the fact that you're so quick to classify a lot of people as stupid might be a clue.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like people who will not listen to reason either. However, you have to realize there's more than one way to say the same thing. Some people will just ignore your point if you're too aggressive towards them or don't use a way of talking they're familiar with. It doesn't mean they're stupid or ill-intended, it's just the way some brains and mentalities work (particularly, the female brain. Not to be taken as a discrimination since I'm a girl too).
It seems to me that you have the habit of getting into discussions that touch important subjects (of the atheist vs religion kind) without the proper consideration (sorry if I'm wrong). Brutality(even the verbal kind) will never convince others to reconsider something they care about lots, no matter how right you are. Knowing how to get your message across is a form of intelligence too. Next time, instead of getting pissed off that "people are stupid", ask yourself if you expressed what you wanted in an appropriate way for the person you're talking to. I know it sounds like a lot of (perhaps useless) work, but it's a fact people have very different backgrounds and ways to react, and if you choose to ignore it, you'll keep suffering the consequences.
Sorry for the long text and good luck in your future debates :)

Television will certainly be part of your answer. Try adding up the effect of millions of people not living their own lives, but as reflections of others, whether this is reality soaps or personalities in soaps and other fiction. Many will live for the highlights of Coronation Street, Dr Who or Big Brother, rather than have the effort and exercising the little grey cells to actually live and think for themselves.
Little skills like handwriting will be a thing of the past, as baby lap tops will be issued automatically with the family allowance book. Computer voice response will become so refined that reading will not be necessary and we will become the controlled rather than the controllers. Brains will change in their function and will no longer be the instigators of action, but more of a requirement to action interface. The age of stupidity is upon us....long live Bill Gates.

Do you know that when you sing and perceive to one self that you have a good voice, People on the other hand, hear a different voice to you. Such as some folk believe that they are Superior intelligence, in-fact they are stupid to come to that conclusion, as only themselves are the Magistrates to there folly, If you ask 10 out of 10 people in the street, the 'question' are you intelligent, there responses would be overwhelming YES Its a complete mystery.

He who thinks they are always right are just too stupid to realise when they are wrong!
If you don't make mistakes and really believe you are right all the time you wont grow as a person. Perhaps you feel inadequate in some way and that is why such great importance is placed on being right all the time? If you felt secure in yourself you wouldn't be asking this question. It wouldn't matter to you that people don't always agree or see your point of you.

Why do you care? You sound like an egomaniac. Obviously your utter lack of personality weighs heavily in some small corner of your "logical" mind, because you are more concerned with being right or wrong instead of being the most horrid of all emotions--indifferent.

Intelligence is not the be all and end all.
And you don't win and argument with an "idiot" by having a rant. If they don't understand your arguments, and you are so intelligent, explain your arguments in a more calm and understandable way.

Sorry to disagree with you. Intelligence or lack of is a perception and you view people one way while I may view them another. Had we met, you might say that I was unintelligent or I might say the same of you It is just a matter of perception

It may be due to the clever/dumb balance. In order for the world to exist as it is there has to be a balance of clever and dumb people.
