Your tank is big enough for two, maybe three gold fish.
Goldfish need 20 gallons each when they mature. They live to 15+ years. They grow to 12+ inches.

Your tank is really only big enough for about 5 Goldfish maximum. Goldfish get 8 inches long and create a lot of poop. Rethink your planing and ask again later...

hi ya... i keept golfish for years as a kid and now i have a large tropical fish tank. goldfish are one of the most easyst fish to keep. before you get the fish you should have all the tank set up and ready for your new pet.

things you will need:
Tank ( obviously )
Gravel
Filter
Air stones (optional)
Plants / rocks ( fake or real )
Water treatments
Net ( for catching fish )
Lighting ( optional )
Large bucket
Food
And dont forget the fish

list of things to do:

1, clean the tank very well to get rid of germs and other things in the tank.

2, if you are adding gravel to the tank you should clean this very well to. ( new gravel has lots of dust in and if you dont clean it well your tank will be real merky)

3, add the water and leave it at least a week before adding the fish. ( this allows the water to settle and start a bacterial cycle) you might want to add a water neutralizer to remove clorine and chalks. E.g some thing like (aqua safe)

4, you can also add any water filters and air stones after you have filled the tank, this will keep the water moving and stop any still spots in the tank, the filter will also start to generate friendly bacteria aswell as get rid of dirt in the water.

5, add your plants and any decorations

6, lighting is not assencial for goldfish but will make them look more bright and colourfull.

thats basicly it, you can now add those little rascles and watch them swimming round with exitement.

remember to keep them cleaned out regulary and when cleaning out DONT do a full water change because this will remove all that friendly bacteria. just DO a 1/4 water change and add that water conditioner to the new tap water.

hope this helps and happy fish keeping : )
