As an investment, NO, No, No. Old British cars are a love affair, not a money maker. A Stag typified the worst of British car design. It was unreliable when new, rusted as you watched and wasn't particularly interresting . The V8 is virtually impossible to get parts for and make a classic Jag's parts look cheap. If you must have an old British Sportster, stick with MGs, TR3, 4,6,250, or Jags .At least they have parts available for less than the national debt.
The only thing worse than a Stag would be a TR 8. If you have lots of money, patience and high tolerence for frustration, go for it but don't say "It wasn't what I expected!!!

Actually a good looking car with the roll hoop. Stags are rare so parts are going to be difficult to find. There are some owners clubs please contact them and see what they know about the car your looking at. Next problem Jager instruments and Lucas electricals. Even brand new those cars had overheating porblems. The two stromberg 1.75 inch carbs canted upward on the center if the engine where heat could really do in the rubber diaphrams and other than most stag owners carry fire extunguishers. For ocasional use take only too car club functions develope relationships with owners with stockpiles of windscreen motors and heater blowers and did I mention that car was real slow. Made worse if it had a automatic

It has a loyal following of two or three people. They already own Stags, so I guess you're the market.
If you're thinking about an old British car as an investment, you're thinking wrong. You buy them because you love them. The odds are you will invest a lot of money and time, but won't make it back on resale.

Make sure you know why you are buying it.
For a car that will go up in value it is questionable.
If you like to tinker and enjoy a top down ride, yes.
But not as an everyday driver.
Prestige wise the Triumph is preferred to an MG, but not as much as an Austin.
You will get waves and smiles where ever you go in that year car, no matter what it is.
If I didn't already own a Miata and had a garage, I would go for it. TR-250's are nice also.

Gotta agree with John Paul on this issue. When they were new, lots of known problems. Typical Brit. reliability and I wonder about rust unless it's a desert car. Parts will be an issue and I don't believe there is going to be much appreciation. If you really want a collectible Brit. car, consider a Jag if you can afford it. For a more affordable Brit. car, try an MGA or a TR6. There is a lot more following and support for these vehicles. Good luck!

Probably, but perhaps not in its original form. For the price of rebuilding the engine you are talking about transplanting something like a Chevy V8. You get performance, reliability and retain the looks that are the Stag's main claim to fame.

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.
