Every 2 - 3 wks. Just keep an eye on it and if it's nasty then change it. I vaccum my rock every 6-8wks and usually do a 1/4 take change when I do that.

hi i keep tropical fish and i clean my filter once every 2-3 weeks. when cleaning a filter it is best to do a 1/4 water change at the same time. drain some of the water out of the tank and use this to clean the filter in. do NOT use fresh tap water as this will destroy all the good bacteria on the filter media. that bacteria helps keep the fish healthy. hope this helps and good luck

My filter directions said change the filter pad once a month, so I clean my filter at the same time.

you're suppose to change the carbon cartridge or filter depending what you have, every 3-4 weeks

its usually to clean it twice in a month. its better to keep looking at it ... so the fish can survive better.

Usually once a week when you do your water change. Depending on how big your tank is.
