Didn't you notice anything at the time? I go barefoot always and everywhere, but on the rare occasions I get a small splinter (never had a cut) I notice immediately, and I just pick it out with tweezers. If you only noticed it this morning I'm thinking it may be a strain injury or something. Or had you gone drinking so you may not've noticed? I'd wash up, check with tweezers, if you can't find anything soak your foot and look again (soaking softens the skin). Chances are you'll be able to get it out yourself, I've never needed a doctor for any splinters anywhere in my body (I get them in my hands far more often since I do a lot of gardening and don't like to wear gloves. I find picking one out left-handed can be harder than getting one out of my foot using both hands, but I always get them). But if you really can't see what you're doing or can't stand to poke around in there yourself, then see your doctor, he'll check it out for you. Oh, and if it's a deep puncture, you may need a tetanus shot if you aren't up to date for it (good idea to keep that vaccination up regardless, there are other ways of catching it apart from stepping on something barefoot).

And don't worry about people scolding you for going barefoot, it's fun, comfortable, and injuries are rare. For some stupid reason people get all hyped up about bare feet saying you should've worn shoes; but if you'd cut your hand, or if you'd worn heels and twisted your ankle, they wouldn't be bugging you about gloves or high-heeled shoes, they'd just say 'accidents happen'. So hope your cut or injury heals soon, & don't let a single incident put you off.

If there is glass in there, then i advise against taking the shard out yourself as more damage can be caused.

Go to A&E as soon as possible and get it x-rayed to make sure there's nothing deeper than you can see.

In the meantime, keep the weight off it and don't wear shoes on that foot.

hehe, this isnt really a question, more a statement or story...
but i would suggest trying to have a look at your foot...
if you're not supple enough to do that, then try using a mirror to get a better view of the affected area of your foot.
i wouldnt neccessarily advise pulling the glass out, as it could lead to bleeding... also i wouldnt suggest walking on it, as this could force the foreign object in further...
On the bright side, are you sure there is something embedded in your foot... maybe your feet are just a bit battered from dancing or maybe someone just stepped on them or something.
best bet would be to get yourself over to A&E... good luck. :)
... next time wear shoes

Get a friend to help you get to A&E . My daughter did the same thing a few weeks ago took her shoes off to dance we took her and they x rayed it and said there was nothing in it . Get it checked out it could work its way in deeper if you dont.

The bi-carb answer is a good one, or soak in hot water, or you can purchase a cream - magnaplasma - from pharmacy. Put on the sore spot, cover it for a day or two. This cream will draw it to the surface. It is often used on boils.

Try a bit of bicarbonate of soda on a plaster. If theres any glass it should draw it to the surface so you can easily remove it with tweezers.

Go to a hospital and explain. They'll do an x-ray of your foot. If there's glass in there, they'll clean it out.

Get to either the doctors or hospital and get them to check it out. If you do have glass in it you might also have picked up and infection so get it checked urgently.
