I can do about 95% of things L/R but fine detail suffers a bit with my left, I've always been that way I just don't think about their being a difference. I think everyone is but they get bogged down in using one or the other and by the time they realise it they just cant use the other as well. I suppose now that you mention it it is kinda weird I have an almost complete eidetic memory (total recall) and I used to get accused of cheating at school because when they read a book and told us to go home and write what we remembered they said I had the book at home ( my mum kicked up hell about it). I think the Lefty/Righty thing might be connected in some way.

yes and it's very beneficial to me although sometimes awkward when doing some things simply because the world is primarily right handed ,,i do things lefty and am not even aware that i am ,,,i shoot lefty and have to buy left hand eject rifles & shot guns for sport but have since sold for less than i paid even though left hand guns cost more retail : ( thats a recent example of some of the inconvienence
try jumping a fence lefty at the same time a righty does ; ) growing up that was always a prob but i am primarily right

As far as handwriting, I can only write with my right hand. However, many things I do in life I do from the left...
example - I'm goofy foot not natural foot

I can apply mascara with both hands (although I usually alternate--and I can also do this while driving a car, but I don't chance that anymore...lol). I can write with both hands, but I do better with my left, and I can use both hands with scissors, but I do better with my right on that. Go figure.

I am. I write with my left hand, but use scissors and bat a ball with my right hand. I can write on a chalk board with my right hand.
