For something to make you laugh it is usually caused by something you see with your eyes, or hear with your ears. Our visual and audio senses take in alot of info and then we start creating memories. Your taste sense only works when you put something in your mouth. Your visual senses first saw it. Constant input, basis building of of life.
And when you're sleeping, your audio (ears) are always working. People wake-up to noises, like an alarm clock.
Your taste sense does'nt gather as much references to know whether something is funny. But, if it tastes funny, it may not be, because taste has no humor.

Because the laughter is reserved for those who see what you do when you taste something funny.

There's only so much laughter to go around and you used it all up on tasting something funny.

Because they're using the word funny to act as the word strange. I agree with her, it's not funny when you hit your funny bone either.

Depending on how gross it is I will laugh. I will also take it around and have everyone take a taste "Try this, it's disgusting!"
