I never have mine and we have had ours for years and it is huge. Others are suggesting you do, so I guess it can't hurt either way. We cut ours back in the fall and it always shots right back up in the spring. Went from a .75 cent 1/2 dead plant to a huge bush now.

I just let mine go the way they are with the dead buds on them. I just leave the dead buds on there, I have never had a problem.
