You need an antivirus program, antispyware software and a firewall. Or you can use an all-in-one security suite. Here you can find more info, as well as free programs that you can download: www.kiete.com

Most virus, malware, spyware and other harmful threats can spread through the internet. Here are some tips to protect yourself from these threats. Links are provided below in the SOURCES section.

1. First of all, switch your internet browser to Opera 9.21 or Mozilla Firefox 2. I personally use Opera because it has proven to be the safest browser on the web.

2. Next use an effective firewall such as Comodo or ZoneAlrm. They are both great, but remember to use only one firewall.

3. To keep spyware from accessing your computer, you need to monitor your ranks (and files) thoroughly and often. Finding all the spyware on your computer is a difficult task, so we recommend using two programs for this job. Consistently one of the best in the antispyware category is Ad-Aware 2007 Pro. There are Free and Paid Editions available. Other suggestions would be AVG Anti-Spyware, SUPERAntiSpyware, Spybot - Search and Destroy and Spyware Terminator.

4. Once you've been infected with viruses, it would be hard to remove these pests. Using an antivirus program would do the trick. Some of these free programs are Active Virus Shield, AviraAntiVir PersonalEdition and Avast! 4 Home Edition.

5. To avoid spyware and malware to infect your computer before they can be installed use SpywareBlaster or Online Armor.

That's it!!! Hope this helps.

*Never install more than one anti-virus on your PC, as they may conflict with each other. On the other hand, its always good to install more than one anti-spyware.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free.

First, make sure you download (automatically) and install all critical updates and patches (Microsoft). Also, use a browser other than IE. I like Mozilla's Firefox (google Mozilla Firefox).

The software mentioned below you can research and download from download.com.

Then you will need a firewall (Zone Alarm is a popular and decent choice; there are a few others).

You will need one (only one) antivirus program (there are many, each with proponents and critics; I use AVG, Avast and Kapersky are popular, good choices and there are others).

You need spyware protection (can use many; I use Ad-Aware and Spybot and am trying out Superantispyware; there are other good choices).

Good luck!

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser.

you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus. i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar.

firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser.

as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE. download firefox for free, Just have a try:
