Good question, that has some European countries in an impasse.

I would not ban it, because if I did I would have to ban ALL religious personal symbols from ALL religions. Quiet hard.

Also I think it doesn't hurt anyone, it is a private option. It doesn't bother me at all by the way and many women feel more comfortable wearing it.

No. I wouldn't ban the hijab as long as there wasn't attitude directed at the rest of us that don't wear them or any kind of movement to force us to wear one and as long as we could continue to say what it means to us. I don't accept this sort of separation of men and women or the belief that women must be covered this way. However, I would ban the burkha.

bwomen wear hijab all the time. i guess certain cities it is more common. you can't outlaw a religious practice that is a personal garment and personal right. Maybe not covering the face for identification purposes, but covering the hair is their right. In a work place you could actually work and not de distracted by a woman's dress if they don't show their skin . and in a factory it would prevent long hair from getting caught or in the food or something. Its a religious practice not an anti-American statement that people should be offended by. Maybe we should have concentration camps like we did in world war 2 when we were fighting japan. That's a great idea! Let's have war hysteria and violate the rights we claim we have in our Constitution.

It is their right to wear the Hi jab because of religious reasons. However, it does cause for confusion because people like to know who they are working with. If it were possible to just show their faces so people can see who they are it would be great.
Imagine working with someone and all you know them by is their voice, one day someone else can come in their place and you may never know.
I feel that there should be a way to id them as everyone else.
I hope you understand the point I am trying to make.

No. I also wouldn't ban wearing a string bikini in public. Everyone should have the right to wear what they choose.

Individual employers DO have the right to specify a dress code for their employees.

I believe religious gear belongs in the home or place of worship while it does not belong in the workplace.

Workplaces must have safety standards. Hijab, worn in a factory is an absolute NO! I wouldn't want a little kid near a playground either, wearing hijab! The minute we loosen the reigns on what is safe and what is okay to allow because people will whine and protest about it if you don't ... THAT'S the minute an accident will happen, someone will be garroted, and then the lawsuits fly.

Business and public schools should be very, very careful what they allow in their environments, whether hijab, kirpan, turban, long crosses on a chain, whatever. Religious expression is NOT imperative, but safety for all, is.

Well, NO! This hijab is no different than the nuns wearing all their wrapped up clothes; look at mother Theresa and all the others. Why is it ok for the Catholics and not for the muslims?

At work? My Chemistry Teacher when I was in high shool (was a nun) she had no problem with her dress and no accident.

I rather see women wearing hijab than wearing short skirt and low neck in workplace tho.

But I will not ban it, it's free country , democracy !

As a state or national law? Absolutely not. The right to wear what one wants is freedom of expression and in this case freedom of religion. Of course businesses would still have the right to regulate what their employees wear and schools can still have a dress code.

I truly believe in freedon of religion but when it comes to them wearing it in the workplace then I would ban it. Sorry to those people that read this and think I am biased but there are jobs where wearing the hijab can creat a potentionally damgerous situation. This is america. You came here for freedom and yet you continue with the old ways.

No I would ban people feeling the need to judge others by their culture and racial background. Where do they think our present day clothing evolved from? I think people should mind their own business and leave others alone who are harming no one.
