does anyone know why an orange is orange? or why a circle is round?

because that's how we named them, in order to use language to describe them.

most oranges aren't that orange they are more yellow-green...they only look orange when you buy them at the store because they spray them with a dye...and a circle is round because a square is square...duh...

OK, biting tongue hard here and trying to be civil...

If there was one thing that was *always* the same colour then you can understand how the colour got named after that thing. Think about "violet" also while you're at it. And "peach". And "magnolia" etc etc.

Round is a description of something that is circular in nature. Or it can mean "generally nearby" like "there's a virus going round".

Perhaps your question would be better in Polls & Surveys where they enjoy silliness a bit more.
