Both parallel lines and coincident lines go in the same direction, but parallel lines have no points in common, whereas coincident lines have all points in common. Coincident lines lie on top of each other.

Two lines that lie on the same points (like right on top of each other) are said to be coincident. Therefore, distinct parallel lines are two parallel lines that don't occupy the same points, and coincident parallel lines are two parallel lines that occupy the same points.

Coincident lines are lines that lie directly on top of one another and their equations can simplify to the exact same equation. For example: y=2x+4 and 2y=4x+8. If you were to solve for y in the second equation by dividing both sides of the equation by 2, both equations could be written as y = 2x + 4, which would yield the same slope(2) and y-intercept(4). This means the lines lie directly on top of one another and intersect at EVERY point. Whereas, parallel lines only share a common slope. For example y = 2x+4, y=2x-10, y=2x+17, etc.
In summary: Coincidence lines share the same slope and y-intercept when written in simplest form and when graphed lie directly on top of each other, thus they look like one line. Parallel lines can only share the same slope and when graphed clearly appear as two separate lines going in the exact same direction at the exact same rate.
