I took a hammer and swung it around under the steering wheel. Then it just started. Maybe I crossed some wires, but it always worked for me

Q: How does the PASS-Key II system work?

A: PASS-Key II works with a small resistor chip embedded in your ignition key. This chip gives a certain resistance. When the ignition key is inserted into the car for the very first time at the factory the computer controller memorizes the exact resistance of that chip and will not start again w/o it.

This provides pretty good protection against all but the more sophisticated thief. A knowledgeable thief can get around it with the right equipment, but the time to steal goes up considerably.

Good luck!

The passlock system can be a real pain in the butt at times. Try cleaning the key. Start with the simple things first. If this doesn't work, join a firebird club, you'll find many who have had this same problem. And know how to bypass the system.

Hmm on my ex's '92 'bird the alarm thing near the driver's left knee was simply disconnected.
If you have a repair manual there'll be wiring diagrams. Find the ignition diagram and see if you can bypass any security systems.
Good Luck.
