The meaning of life is 'perspective'.

What this means is that no two people have the same view of reality, there being as many realities as human beings. In other words, there is no one 'meaning', your individual view shapes the world around you and consequently you construct every aspect of it, including any associated purpose.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

The meaning of life is to find out the meaning of life!

Seriously, the meaning of your life is left up to you! Nobody can possibly know more about the meaning of -your- life than you do. That might sound frustrating to you, but I think it's GREAT! You have free will!

Just by asking the question you have come closer to finding the answer, Grasshopper.

Do i believe that i am here for a purpose?

The truth is I'm not sure... what is the meaning of life? Is it worth time trying to find out?

Most of us are just living our lives but we are not really trying to find out what is it that we are living for. It all seems enjoyable when you have a fulfilled life but we do suffer now and then.

Life means different things to different people. Because we have different aspirations and goals to achieve.

It's almost like we are programmed to do different tasks in this world. Almost as we are biological robots upgrading ourselves by learning more and more about life each day. And the one thing none of us still haven't figured is that-
why are we here?
Why are we living?
What is the meaning of life?

Are we all put on earth for the same reason?
It leads me to so many other questions about life that I realized I still have a lot to learn about life.
So i am not sure I'm qualified to state the definition of life but...to me life is meaningful, and worthwhile when you are healthy and get to spend it with your loved ones.

If your asking about the word:

the general condition that distinguishes organic from non-organic matter. These things have characteristics, such as the fact they can reproduce, grow, perform functional activity, and change continuously until the time they die.

If you asking about something else:
You are asking the wrong question. Try rewording your question so that it makes sense in a easier to understand way.

The True Meaning of Life
On the first day God created the cow. God said, "You must go to the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer. I will give you a life span of sixty years."

The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty-five and I'll give back the other thirty-five."

And God agreed.

On the second day God created the dog. God said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's too long to be barking. Give me ten years and I'll give you back the other ten."

So God agreed (sigh).

On the third day God created the monkey. God said, "Entertain people, do monkey tricks, make them laugh. I'll give you a twenty year life span." The monkey said, "How boring, monkey tricks for twenty years? I don't think so. The dog gave you back ten, so that's what I'll do too, okay?"

And God agreed again.

On the fourth day God created man. God said, "Eat, sleep, play, enjoy. Do nothing, just enjoy life, enjoy. I'll give you twenty-five years" Man said, "What? Only twenty-five years! No way, man. Tell you what, I'll take my twenty-five, and the thirty-five the cow gave back, and the ten the dog gave back and the ten the monkey gave back, that makes eighty, okay?"

"Okay," said God. "You've got a deal."

So that is why the first twenty-five years we eat, sleep, play, enjoy life, and do nothing. For the next thirty-five years we slave in the sun to support our family; for the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren; and for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained.

Life has no definite meaning. we exist to create a meaning for life. one's meaning might be different from another, as individuals have different perceptions and ways of doing things.

Only because no one's been immature enough to put it yet.

I know the general meaning to life, but, as it is based on religion, none would take well to it.
But the meaning of my life is to glorify my god.
