If I have Cingular cell phone service, but I want to buy a Sidekick(by T-Mobile) would it be possible to just switch the sim card in my phone to the sidekick but still keep my same plan with Cingular? Or would I absolutely HAVE to buy a T-Mobile plan?

Sorry even though Cingular and T-Mobile both use GSM network and both require sim cards on their phones each carrier have specific phones that are locked using only their brand network.

If you want to use a phone on a different cell phone carrier then you would have to purchase a "unlocked GSM phone" this way you can use that phone and use any carrier like Cingular, T-Mobile and Nextel. All you have to do is to put your cell phone carrier sim card on this phone and it will work.

You can find unlocked GSM phones on ebay, and or amazon.com
