Oh but if I went 'round sayin' I was Emperor, just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away.

You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you.?

Supreme executive power comes from the Supreme Court throwing a sword at you.

Some people rule because they are ordained to rule. Helps if they actually know what they are doing but it is not necessary as most rulers rule out of a passion for power and not a desire to be a good ruler. It is sad, but in my opinion taking someone giving them a first class education and telling them they are going to make a top ruler before handing them the reigns of power could well be better than letting some bitter and twisted little dwarf with a chip on his shoulder work his way up through the ranks by learning how to play politics (a dirty little game with no interest in benefit to humanity) and then letting him set up a system which pulls the rug out from under the people who actually do the work while cutting breaks for the people that get fat letting money work for them (a euphemism for using money as leverage to profit from the labour of others). Bitter little dwarfs that live for power are no better than well meaning idiots who rule for ideals or tradition, either way someone else pays a price. What kind of world do you want? Safe and boring with a minimum payout for most people, or short and brutal with high levels of motivation and freedom to die in innumerable gruesome ways. Give me a King with a sword and somewhere to stick it. I would rather die fighting for something I believe in than rot to death in a lounge chair with TV telling me how to vote.

1. We have no information suggesting she was a tart.
2. Which do you prefer, strange women lying in ponds, or a roomful of stodgy men (for the most part)? I prefer wet women, myself.
3. As people have pointed out, the appointee must prove capable of withdrawing a sword from stone, something that is beyond the ability of most of the present candidates.
4. Have you spoken to the masses lately? Nothing special there....

Supreme executive power is more dangerous than the sword. Look at what GW is trying to do

Wrong the source of supreme executive power is either the applied sword or a really good lie/myth.

I'm with Bob on this one. LOL

But seriously, I would have to assume this is a question from the UK or about the UK...

Because in the US, the President derives his executive power from the US Constitution.
