There are some knee jerk reactionaries who respond to name calling and character assassination rather than thought and reason.

It was true in kindergarten and it's true for some adults as well.

You call a person a communist just for fun! How nice of you!

It is the same with Democrats. Neocons think that anyone who wants to help others are commies, socialists and all Democrats are liberal. None is true however.

It is interesting they don't complain about the tax cuts that go only to the rich, and they don't complain about a 3 1/2 TRILLION dollar additional deficit if one of them are in the white house, and they don't complain when my money is spent to give out corporate welfare, no-bid and no strings attached!

I guess they like it they way it is! Most Americans would disagree!

I also never understood why they go after "people" on welfare but never corporations or their stock holders, who are also the biggest frauds! Especially when you consider the people they are talking about are children, the elderly and the disabled. Many are unemployed as that is a built in feature of our supply and demand economic system! Business creates them and then wants US to take care of supporting those they use and then caste aside!

On here its 2 points for calling any one anything unless you get a violation then its minus 10 if its a question and 2 for an answer. Communism is out dated socialists abound around here but there is a difference although rather slight. Both do not like freedom, and limit things to their view point in any discussion, the same can be true for Facists. But sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't politics have nuts, other topics don't

Honestly, I see a lot of uninformed name calling. Most of those doing the calling do not know the meaning of the terms "communist," "socialist," "liberal," and so forth. If they did, they might think twice before doing the name calling.

It is a way to classify someone as someone you feel justified in hating. Really, calling people communist is old fashioned. These days, it's "liberal" or "neocon," Red State or Blue State, fundie or atheist, and so on. Accepting shades of grey in people, in arguments, or in politics is too confusing for most.

It seeks to undermine a person's status and credibility when yo have no actual arguments to use against them. Much of modern right wing rhetoric works like this because it is designed to hit emotional responses, especially fear, and obscure the reality of the policies being debated, since few people actually support their policies.

How would you know that? Was it directed towards you? It's like the liberals calling Republican Christians the "Religious Right" or the "Far Right" or the neo-Nazi Conservatives. It's a swinging door, it works BOTH ways.

Modern day neocons are a throwback to the McCarthy era where they labeled anyone that disagreed with them as "communists". McCarthy got and deserved a censure from the United States Senate.

That means that your accuser has no valid points or debate skills to convince you that his position/philosophy is more eminent than yours.
What he lacks in evidence is only highlighted by such slurrious accusations .
