Yes it should. British people for years have been encouraged to have less children but it doesn't make much difference to world population because 3rd world countries and people like the Chinese don't worry about it.

On a personal level I feel that immigrants coming into our country whatever their nationality should be made aware that they cannot have large families and should limit themselves to 2-3 children at most. I don't think that would be an unfair policy as they don't have to come if they don't like it. If they go over the limit we should not pay for their folly.

British population needs to come down. but if we as the indigenous people try to do it alone we will be overwhelmed by the immigrants in a few years. This is not meant to be racist but fact.

In the long term overpopulation of the country and the planet as a whole will mean instability, hunger more crime etc etc

China has tried it and possibly still does. they do it by controlling how many female children a family can have. i read this info somewhere but can't remember the source. i'm sure it can be found on the web.
to control the birth rate anywhere is going way to far in taking away someones rights. i mean how would it be enforced? here is this little baby and it's not allowed to be here? what do you do with it? or we could sterilize either the female or males after they've had their quota.
can you imagine the world we would be living in if our government had the power to tell us how many children we are ALOUD to have?

YES IT SHOULD IN SOME COUNTRIES ANYWAY, where the people are starving for many reasons one been just too many people to feed off soil that does not produce much in the way of food. religion has a large part to play in the over crowding and suffering throughout these lands, no real form of birth control is allowed even though A.I.D.S. IS RAMPANT by exepting mothers and so on. these people are not living, its a mere survival for those that dont die before they are ten years old. i dont feel it is right to bring people into a world that cant look after them.

Of course. Our planet is overcrowded. People are having too many babies. Overpopulation is basically a higher birthrate than deathrate and it will lead to greater consumption of resources which will slowly kill the planet.

I understand what you are saying, but we have to go with the flow. It is not for us to control other people's lives, it is all about freewill, not power and control. The greatest sadness with creation of new lives, is that there are many who remain childless and yearning whilst others are popping them out like peas and asking the state to continue to pay for them. Don't get me on that soapbox.
