how much of a 5 year sentence with minimum of 18 months plus 2-2 1/2 yrs time served will be spent in jail?

my husband had an open ten year sentence with his minimum set to 18 months plus time served (about 2 years). After his first parole board meetind they gave him 5 years. so how much jail time is he expecting to do? the whole 5 years or less? please clarify. cant get ahold of the public defender but still trying.
