Ok, i love this poem and bukowski!!! My thought on this poem is that in life people are gonna be to ways good and bad. Charles, is a man who has a really pesimestic outlook on life and the people who inhabit it. So Obvolisly he has been ****** over so many times that thasts his view about eveyone. There his enemy.

The genius of the crowd is that they can magnify the murderous hateful tendencies of the average man.

I think that is the basic essence of what Bukowski was getting at here.
