I disagree that women are influenced by men.....for many years women just couldn't do those things or didn't do those things because it just wasn't available to them, like riding bikes. As far as the looking "pretty" the media has more to do with that then men do.....the media is constantly shoveling the crappy "thin" woman look in front of us and conditioning women to believe that is how we should ALL look.....THIN IS IN is the message we get from the time we are little girls and that is wrong.
As for me, I wear leather jackets, chaps and Harley gear because it goes with the Harley I bought for my husband the year before we married......not because some man thinks it's cool. I want some leather between me and the pavement should we ever put the bike down, God forbid. I work out because my Dr wants me to because of my blood pressure and sugar issues (I personally hate exercise) not because I want to "look pretty for men". My husband loves my curves and tells me that I am so sexy and beautiful and I will be honest.....I wear a size 16. I brag about what I do because I think I do a damn good job at what I do.....there are no men trying to do what I do where I work but there are some who want to try and say I might not be doing what I'm supposed to be doing (my boss's boss is an a-hole) and I need to blow my own horn to make sure I get due credit.
If there were no men left on earth to compete with....have no fear....women would compete with other women.......just like men would compete with other men if there were no women.
Ask yourself these questions.....would men work out or out jogging if not to impress women with their well toned bodies? Would men wear motorcycle gear and ride motorcycles if women didn't think it looked cool? Would men be bragging about all the great things their sex thinks it can do if there were no women on earth to compete with?
My last question is you stated that you believe without men's influence women would act like women. How would that be? Would we all be wearing dresses, nylons, high heels, staying at home, having babies, mopping the floor and have your dinner ready with your pipe and slippers when you come home from a hard day at work??? Honey.....wake up, those days are over and WOMEN are here to stay!!!

Women to me seem to influence themselves in their own capabiliteis. Yes, some women only do it to either show off to men or to prove a point to men, but other do it to try something that hasn't been done by many women so they can expirience it fo themselves. Most of the clothing is done for the men though.

Its human nature to be influenced by those around you. Yes women are influenced by men and men by women. Its only human.
It goes the same for men. Why would men work out if women were not checking them out? Why do men brag about their accomplishments if they did not want to snag that special lady? I think deep down we do care what the opposite sex thinks. Its the ying and the yang. Although some may say that we women do not need men, I disagree. And yes I am a feminist. We balance each other out, even though there are some inequalities. I may be fighting for the equality of women EVERYWHERE, but I still would not trade my man in for the world. They have their "special" qualities and "unique" abilities.
I am a Sculptor and Photographer. I do a lot of work in metal fabricating. I weld, use grinders, metal rollers, metal shears, plasma cutters, the list goes on. I have even done bronze pours. Trust me I do not want any man to see me when I take of that welding mask on a day that is 100+ degrees. I do my Sculpture because I love it. And no man in my life or around me has done any of those things. Granted I am influenced by the likes of Bruce Beasley, Amish Kapoor, and Richard Serra. But discovering my ability to create works of art like these men was something I discovered by taking classes of my own accord. And honestly the only reason women were not doing works of art like these men is because the Modern Art movement was created predominately by white male New Yorkers. Who supposedly tried to create non biased art work. Work without emotions (Cubism (my most favorite movement), Dada, etc.) But the majority of their pieces are fairly fallic. "My piece is bigger than yours, etc." But you do not want me to get into that now do you?
The argument you are trying to make is weak. You have no valid basis for your claims. Think about it a bit longer. It goes both ways. I like to still look good for my husband and he likes to look good for me. I like Harley gear because someday I would love to have my own Harley, not because men ride them. I would love to have my own Chopper and cruise PCH all across the Pacific Coastline. It seems very liberating. Why not? There is nothing wrong with it. What is the point you are trying to make?

both sexes are influenced by each other. If anything men are more influenced by females. obviously.
ok same question for you..why do men work out? lift weights? why do men wear colgone and go to nightclubs/bars?
no not all women work out to impress guys. yes some..but they're not really women are they..more like girls. obviously they want to be healthy. women don't think of men probably as much as you think they do.

women are definetly influenced by men but i dont think much more than men are influenced by women. if a woman walked into your bedroom (granted single) and took her clothes off, would that influence you?
i love to hunt and fish. and i don't do either of those things with or around men. i prefer to run in the wilderness and exercise in my house so that men won't look at me. i have to wear a sweater over my clothes so guys won't check out my boobs when i walk into a room. there are two sides to every story, ya know?
i understand what you're saying though. we tend to seek validity in the opposite sex. we want them to be attracted to us. thats natural but very exploited.

Women are influenced by their own capabilities and courage, just as much as men are. But how they are inspired is another matter. That's my opinion, thanks for asking.

Because they're not encouraged to think for themselves. They follow after men who are too often "brainless wonders"- & THEN when they get hurt by them- complain how "stupid" men are. It's like, "Wow!- What a surprise..!" People who INSIST on following others over a cliff- should prepare to be hurt. If women don't know any better that THAT, -then whose fault IS it???
