The main reason a lot of businesses are still closed on Sundays is that people aren't out as much on Sundays, and don't do as much shopping. Most specialty stores would lose money if they were open on Sunday because there wouldn't be enough business.

probably i mean its not illegal to work on sabbaths like it used to be back down and most businesses arent closed on sunday they just close earlier than the regular time

To the Christian faith its Sunday, to the Jewish faith its Saturday, and to the Islamic faith its Friday....If most business are closed on Sunday in the western world its simply because the western world has been traditionally Christian !
