In my humble opinion, President George W. Bush is the worst thing that has happened to the Republican party since President Richard Nixon. He is not a conservative--Please review the growth in government, perpetual budget deficits, increase of our national debt, and reduction of personal freedoms, all of which are antithetical to conservative ideology. Despite claims that he is a liberal, consequent to the so-called amnesty bill, democratic liberalism fails him.

President George W. Bush (please, do not think that all George Bushes are alike) is definitely the political poster child for a Democratic Party victory in 2008.

There is no doubt he has put this country in a big of mess as anyone could imagine.

I can't fathom what he has done, and who he has done it to. It is far too much to take in!

That's what the Supreme court, 4 of the 9 appointed by the Bush's and I believe there are 2 left appointed by Democrats. Could be wrong. It might be 1, gets for inferring in an election

Bush can't claim he had a mandate to do anything as he didn't even win the popular vote!

Wasn't that Bush who wanted to push the bill through and the democrats voted agains't it. As a matter of fact, one of the questions on here after the vote was: "Are you Democrats glad today that 34 out 49 of your Senators voted FOR the Immigration Bill?"

Look, you can't have it both ways so make up your mind?

I think Bush is happy Democrats control Congress. They almost pushed through Amnesty for 20 million illegals.

When Republicans controlled Congress, their bill concentrated on Border Security and put illegal aliens properly at the back of the line, behind the 6.7 billion or so other people on the planet who did not break the law by criminally trespassing.

Bush also has the largest government in our history, both in number of employees and the amount of spending (even inflation adjusted - perhaps the War of Northern Agression and or World War II would be the only two wars which we spent more).

Neo-cons are not new or conservative.

The Democrats still may lose in 2008 because 52% of the country hates and will not vote for Hitlery.

So you are saying the only way the Democrats look good is when Bush looks bad? What does that say about the Democrats? Shouldn't they be able to stand on their own ideas and plans regardless of Bush's performance?

Names, names, names. America for the most part is "middle of the road". Only sensationalized news media has a use for the far left and right bigmouth numb-nuts.

Maybe, just like Bill clinton was the best thing to happen to the GOP.

Clinton caused the GOP to gain control of Congress for the first time in 40 years.

Bush caused the GOP to lose control of Congress.

But with the record low rating of Congress now, it seems like this Democrat Congress might just drive themselves right back out of power in 2008.

Just my opinion, but i believe that we will have a:

Republican President in 2008
Democratic House in 2008
Republican Senate in 2008

But it is early, so thing can change.

But the democratic front runners seem to have to much baggage to get elected.

Hillary Clinton would seem to have the best chance, but she has huge negative ratings that will be almost impossible to overcome.

No kidding! The GOP worked hard to make strides with the African-American community, and Bush blew it with his bungling of Katrina. They were making strides with Hispanic voters, but Bush's ineptness at moving forward on immigration has forced many on the right to spew xenophobic hated of immigrants that sometimes borders on the irrational....Can't give Bush all the credit. The incompetence of Frist and Delay in the GOP Congress made it painfully clear that the GOP had next to nothing to offer the average American.

Yes! But let us not also forget to thank: Ann Coulter, Congressman Duke Cunningham, Congressman Mark Foley, Scooter Libby, Jack Abramof, and Hurricane Katrina for bringing GW's gross leadership inadequacies to the attention of the news media who, until Katrina happened, basically had their head up W's proverbial a$$ along with everyone else. Except me! I didn't vote in 2000 but if I had; I'd have voted for AL Gore, and I DID vote for Kerry in 2004!

He beat Al gore and John Kerry, keeping both from becoming national embarrassments for for America and the Democratic party. I think the Dems owe George Bush a lot.

I'd say. Sometimes I think he's more of a Dem than a Rep. He's given quite a lot to the Dems, but they turn around and say they never wanted it or it's not enough. They can never be happy.
