He is not a direct descendant of the previous King and all the other kings and queens before that. The men are not allowed to take the title King unless they are the ruling monarch. the wife of the King is called "Queen" though.

Elizabeth II was THE HEIR to the throne of her father George VI;Philip was not the heir,he was a spouse. Since the monarch is Queen,no one else in the UK can wear a title higher than her's;the title of king is considered a higher title because only the regent uses it.There is no comparable male title to that of Queen Consort,or wife of the regent. There is no "King Consort" for husband to the Queen regent. So Philip uses Prince Consort for his standing as husband of the Queen Regent.

Because Queen Elizabeth never asked for him to get it. Giving the title of "King Consort", or any title for that matter, to the spouse of a reigning queen is not automatic in the United Kingdom. It must be approved by Parliament, and the Royal Family has never asked for the titel. Philip wasn't even made a British Prince until several years into his wife's reign.

Phil the Greek cannot assume the title of King because an act of parliament forbids it.A man marrying into any family does not take that families titles. All the titles that Phil the Greek aka Sponge Phil has were given to him When he married Queen Elizabeth.Prince Philip of Greece is not a title that has any meaning since that country voted out the monarchy a long time ago.He is now the Duke of excessive government payouts or something.

He is not, by blood, a king. He's just a man that married a woman who, by blood, is a queen because her ancestors were kings or queens through self-declaration or force or by vote of the people, and it just never seems to end...

He is the Queen's consort.

He is actually related by blood from the Greek Royal family and his great aunt was Alexandra Fedorvna the Tsarina of Russia and wife of Tsar Nicholas II.

Saddly he isnt of British blood and therefore isnt a King.
