nick (below) No. I'm sure that as always, neo-cons wish to ignore anything that their zombies say and/or do. Then try to put a positive spin on it.

nick (below) Forget about why the war was fought. Who was the bad guys? Those who fought to preserve the Union OR those who fought to tear it apart?

- who were - (above)

nick (below) If the traitors had won, there would be two Americas.

Why?

Because those who would have governed the South would never relinquish their power.

For some of them, yes. For some it represents state rights. For some it simply represents their racism.

Regardless, it is sedition. If you are referring to Acid Aunt(sp?) then you jumped too soon. She gave a great list of liberal bumper stickers that were quite good (NOT anti-liberal, far from it).

I'll join you on this fight. I live in the South, respect their right to fly the confederate flag, but I don't hesitate to make clear (sometimes to my peril) how glad I am that the South didn't win.

This country comes first for me.

Why do you equate the Confederate Flag with "neocons?" It was the Republican party which, under Lincoln, led the nation through the war. It was the Republican party which fought the KKK. It was the Democratic party which made up the KKK's roster for over 100 years. It was the Democratic party which fought against abolishing Jim Crow laws.

To answer your historically inaccurate question - It would depend on the context in which the flag was flown. Who even wants to do such a thing?

If Lincoln, FDR and Bush can burn the Constitution, people should be able to burn the US or even the Confederate Flag.

The traitors, IMO, are those who jailed people without trail for years (Lincoln - thousands were jailed when habeas corpus was suspended, FDR put tens of thousands of Japanese into Concentration Camps and Bush was the least bad of the three as so far only one American was detained indefinitely).

States have the right to leave the Union. Lincoln destroyed the Constitution by attacking sovereign states. The South had a right to defend itself. Lincoln would not have permitted a Confederate Fort in say Delaware to arm itself.

Lincoln dissolved Congress when they voted against him.

Lincoln disregarded any judicial ruling which went against his fascist dictatorship.

Lincoln sent armed troops to close newspapers and arrest thousands simply for disagreeing with the war or arguing for people not to fight in it.

Lincoln instituted an income tax and involunatry draft (unless you paid $300 which is tens of thousands in today's dollars for someone to fight in your place - sort of like Clinton and Bush).

Lincoln sent soldiers to burn down cities, rape women and children and steal and murder people who had the right to leave the Union and had nothing to do with the war.

Lincoln deprived American citizens a trial by jury.

Lincoln refused to discuss a peaceful settlement of the South's grievances (mainly economic due to the onerous tariffs which were paid for by the South and spent in the North) before, at the start of and during the entire duration of the war. France also tried to achieve a peace settlement and Lincoln refused. Lincoln wanted an all powerful, totalitarian fascist federal government and he would kill as many people as possible to get it.

If anyone was a Traitor in the War of Northern Aggression it was Lincoln who destroyed the Constitution and was the original Fascist.

No, I don't think it suggests that. Besides many don't view the south as traiters, they fought for what the believed in just as the United States did when we broke away from England.

The war was about state's rights and growing differences between the north and south, slavery was a smaller issue.

I think you are turning a molehill into a mountain here. Seriously, I think you took that the wrong way.

Chi guy, my point is does that make us traiters from England since we fought to break away from them before we fought the civil war?

How would the south be viewed if they had won? It's my believe we would have eventually come back together as a nation and the states would have much more individual rights than they have today.

Amazing, if someone waves the Confederate flag they are a racist or a traitor. But if someone displays the (pick a country) flag in their front yard they are proud of their heritage. Why can't someone be proud of their southern heritage? Not all people from the south are racists, just as not all people from Mexico are illegal, or all people from Russia Communists, etc. Is this just another liberal double standard talking point?

Plagarist!!! You getting that idea from a stupid book written by a local professor at KU. That picture was on the cover of his book and he is a liberal. His idea (without any historical logic) was that the south won the war between the states. Harry Turtledove has done it better and he did it first. This professor gets the attention because he happens to be black.

It may mean that the individual wants to publicly acknowledge or display thier southern heritage/history, despite not taking into account the negative meaning of the confederate flag from others, especially African-Americans and other minorities who suffered for a long time (and still do today) in a very much racist south.

What do you expect from those traitorous enough to support selling our country out to the highest bidder? And sacrificing American lives for power and profit?
