Check Engine!
I had an F-150 Ford Truck and the lite came on
because I didn't have the gas cap on all the way, it was
not air tight and something as little as that can make the lite come on...so be sure to check that
so you won't have to pay money to be told that!...I was upset that they charged me, and embarrassed too!

The only way to pinpoint the problem is to have your car connected with an OBD analyzer. I dont know about you, but I hate going to the mechanic, so I avoid it if I can do the work. If this is reasonably true for you , then go to almost any car parts store like Autozone, Advanced Auto, Pep Boys and the like, and they will check your car and can tell you the problem you are having. It takes only a few minutes, and they can do it right in the Parking lot. The OBD is handheld. From there you can decide what is the best course of action. No matter what is wrong with the car, maake a point to fix it as soon as you can. Some problems can get worse with time or can lead to other malfunctions. Good luck.

Well, that is a very good question. Could be from a number of things. I won't pretend to know all of them.
However, it could be any of the following and then some:
low on some fluid
transmission problem
egr sensor
fuses ?
Better to take it to a reputable auto shop.. with a computer diagnostic device. Let them find out what it is... then with that information talk to someone you can trust who is knowledgeable about mechanics to see what their opinion is...
Hope its something minor so that you don't need big $$$ or a new car.

Amber check engine means you can continue driving but need to get you vehicle serviced soon. Red means stop immediately or your engine will be severely damaged. Loss of engine fluids is a good example of a red engine light.

assuming you have a computer in your vehicle, that light is telling you one of the many sensors has detected a problem. It has sent a Fault Code to the computer. A technician can use a diagnostic module to pull the code. From there he can, hopefully, repair the problem which will turn the light off.

the cap would have easily been the reason, which will reason a misfire and reason the verify engine mild (cel) grimy battery cables quite wouldnt reason the automobile to in user-friendly terms close off out of nowhere. possibilities are high if the cap became into quite lose that became into your difficulty. disconnecting the battery will reason the codes to reset so until it comes on back you will not understand what the code became into.

it means that a sensor has detected a problem in the computer system.you must scan it fo digital trouble code(s)
the trouble code will be a clue as to the problem.
the components described in a trouble code arent necessarily bad. the code is just a clue.

I could just mean you reached a certian amount of mileage, or that there is something wrong. Just go and have them hook it up to a computer to diagnose it. Some places will do it for free.

Sometimes it's just a routine thing and doesn't mean anything. It comes on periodically so that you get your car checked.
