Like you, I too am a TOTAL garlic freak. ... I eat them and even drink them (i.e. I make a mean Garlic Ginger Tea, with a touch of lemon/lime and a bit of honey that kills even the nastiest flu bugs on the spot) ANY WHICH WAY I CAN - it's a wonder I still have any friends left! LOL
BUT, believe it or not my favorite way to eat garlic is EXACTLY the same as you have described above - it truly is one of the most delicious ways of eating garlic. Although I must admit, sometimes when I don't have time to actually roast the garlic, I just get a piece of porous toast rub the raw garlic over it and add some extra virgin Olive oil on top and go to town with it. However, it is NOT something that I would recommend to a faint-of-heart "garlic newbie", or if you are fixing to go out with a hot babe. LOL
P.S. As you know, besides tasting GREAT, health-wise garlic is one of the most beneficial things you can ever eat. Garlic is like Music, you should never live without it.
BTW: Consider your question "starred"; I just did not star it cause I didn't want people to think that I sang the praises of garlic and starred your question just to get the BA.
I wish you a lifetime of glorious garlic experience, my friend. :-)

I love adding at least half a son (10-15 cloves) of freshly pressed garlic into stir fry. It's absolutely to-die-for, especially when one uses sesame oil, or chili wok oil.

Haha interesting....
I like my garlic chopped up, fried, and blended into a nice red gravy. Yum.
Or in a jar or pickles.

It induces anaphylactic shock in me, so I never touch it. It seems to find its way into all kins of canned foods too.
