I remember sitting at the intersection and crying...my whole social frame was gone..my circle of friends, my favorite teachers who inspired me, the cute guys...all of it over...yes very sad, it took me back a few to realize it was over. ..but when I was finished being sad.... I also looked ahead and felt very excited...I mourned the passing of my school life...tried to keep in touch with the friends I loved and took off to my new life...it was an awesome time in my life and I will always remember it...so here comes the future...a wonderful and exciting adventure...dont be to hard on yourself...it is naturally a part of life to feel sad as a part of your life takes a turn...time to start some more of the memories we carry with us....have fun and be true to yourself. hope it helps

It is very normal to feel that way, because change is scary and things will never quite be the same again, but know that they may very well get better. And if it reassures you any, I can tell you that 35 years after graduating, I'm still friends with my best friend from high school, even though our lives went in very different directions. And within the last few months alone, I've heard from several old friends. One ran across my name and address in a newsletter and wrote me a really nice note, and the other is bringing his daughter to check out the college where I work in a few weeks and I will probably meet his family then.
I didn't love high school, but there were actually some nice people there. Life has been far better recently than it ever was then, but I'm glad to include the good people from my youth in the life I have now.

I was sad for awhile...couple of months... then I started college and I realized what a small world I lived in. High school was so much drama and craziness it really took away from my friendships and my education. I loved college. The key was to find professors who inspire and people who have the same interests and values that you do. Study groups and extra activities are great places to meet people. I honestly don't talk to many people I went to high school with... I graduated 5 years ago and I live 1,500 miles from my hometown... and today I'm really ok with my decisions... I talk to my college friends all the time... it'll get better... you may keep in touch with a few close friends but as your life moves on and you meet new people and experience new things it'll be worth it! Good Luck!!

Are you going on to college? You'll make new friends there. Besides, it's not like you HAVE to give up your old high school friends, not in this day and age of cellphones and email and instant messaging. And what about this summer? Can't you get together with some of them now? Call them up and meet in a park somewhere and throw a Frisbee around, or go hang out with them at the mall. They didn't die, you know. They just graduated from high school.

A little. It's only natural to be sad. But I was also really excited and happy to start a new chapter of my life. And hey, just because you leave high school doesn't mean you leave your friends. I still talk to a lot of my high school friends at least once a day.

More like mixed feelings. While I was sad that I wouldn't be seeing my high school friends regularly, I was excited to move on to college to meet new friends. My high school buddies have remained my closest friends since we make it a point to get together or at least, keep in touch by phone. We just got better since we celebrated our 25th homecoming - - - we have a yahoo group site. The same is true for my friends in college. Even grad school.
I wish you all the luck in college!

I didn't at all. I was so bored throughout my senior year that I'm just excited that I got to leave so that I can go off to college. Of course I'll miss my good teachers and my school firends, but I don't really feel sad at all.

Mixed feelings. I didn't feel much the sadness, but during the graduation, I weeped, we weeped when we sung the song assigned to us, then we embraced each other and took pictures. Dramatic!
Now that I'm in college, I still keep in touch with them by sending Friendster messages, but still some don't reply, and with others, I don't have news.

i'm graduating this year too, and that i think so unhappy for some reason. lots of the human beings who i'm graduating with are so happy yet, i think weird and wonderful/unhappy on a similar time. It in basic terms needs to kick in i assume, yet i will completely relate on your unhappiness approximately it.
