Why is it that conservatives think that the market should drive the availability of media when we are taking about talk radio and the fairness doctrine, but think that the market is inadequate when it comes to the content if entertainment and want greater regulation?

Actually, several of them called for less, particularly regarding things like the persecution of Imus, and others, democrat or republican. Because the Republican party attracts Christians more, there will always be a fundamentalist push toward censorship.

Democrats (my party) needs to go back to being the champions for free speech again and give up this "fairness" concept. It's like being on a playground again and being told that if you don't bring enough for everyone, don't bring it. It's silly.

Leave it to the market. Leave it to freedom. We (democrats) made free speech a household value. Let's not lose it and become anti-free speech by trying to force people to listen to us at the expense of free speech.

Tipper Gore and her loony husband started the censorship movement.
The conservatives do not want any censorship at all. They want talk radio left alone. However, if libs insist and somehow get the Fairness Doctrine reinstated, we (me and conservatives) want it to apply to all media. That way when a lib slanders the President or says something that we do not agree with, we get to go to the papers or to the lib tv show that did it and get equal time to dispel whatever lies or spins were used in the biased media. After all, that is exactly what the libs want to do with talk radio. Radio is the only media that libs have not been successful in because the own or control the rest of the media. They have no market in radio because everyone in the country has already been saturated with liberal biased media.
Conservatives hypocrites on free speech? Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?!?! Libs do not wish only to stifle free speech by reviving the FD, they want to ultimately silence dissenting opinion. It is the most blatant assault on the free speech of Americans in America's history. It is time that libs and conservatives alike stood up to this renegade congress and made them listen to our voice. Stay out of our lives and stay out of our pocket books!!!

No I don't believe so. I think they want maximum free speech...thats right......they want all of the speechs you have on your telephone and computer to belong to the government.....for free. It is not just the conservatives but also the liberals that are hypocrits. It is unrealistic to think that any of the politicians that are serving us are honest and revealing as far as any truths are concerned. I feel that on some level, we all know that there isn't much honesty from hardly any place in politics. There are a few good guys on all sides as well. Differences in opinion from our respective party should not divide us as a people but show us the benefit of our democratic system. It could be better and could also be worse. Flip the coin.

As I recall... the politician with the single biggest name in censorship is none other than Al Gore... I'm pretty sure he's not a conservative.

But regardless... the two are not related. Any defense of Comrade Pelosi's desire to have state controlled media promote her political agenda only serves to make liberals look even more pathetic than they already do.

Their is a difference between opinion of an issue and showing immoral conduct on tv and movies. Conservatives know that the best way to control television ; "turn it off."

Why do you always group us as one. I am for free speech and if democrats can get enough advertisement they can have a show too. Leave Radio along. TV for that matter. If one does not like it dont listen to it. Most of Talk Radio you all do not like are Libertarians anyway.

What the hell are you talking about? Con protect free speech and all the amendments. Liberals want to crush and destroy all who think differently than them.
