Put a copy of it in an envelope and mail it to yourself. Use stamps, not a meter, so you will get a postmark.

Voila! Now you're copyright-protected.

I think you can pay a 50$ fee to Congress or one of those places for them to officially copyright it. Or you can mail it to yourself and not open your written work. Put it in a safe or bank.

The mailing trick doesn't work any more. Not sure it ever did.

do it the old fashioned way. mail it to yourself and keep it in the envelope so that there is a postmarked date on it. and there its copywrited!
