I live in Mississippi, and my fiancee has been paying childsupport for three kids. One child turned 18 (drop out) and we had just found out that he has to pay until he's 21 or legally out of one of the parents home. ( like proving he's living on his own). Boy, this state sucks big time. I hope this might help.

You'll need to check the support agreement and the laws of the state in which the agreement was made. I believe in my state, once a child is 18 years old and is not attending school, the obligation to pay no longer exists. It exists if the child is a student and is 22 or younger. Once they hit 23, that's it.

Again..like everyone has said...Child support is paid to the custodial parent. However a good way to make sure the money is going to the child is to have some papers drawn up by your lawyer, requesting receipts for the amount of the child support. That way crackhead Moms and Dads have to spend the money on the child and not on drugs,DVDs etc...

If the child is legally emancipated in CA they are on their own. Child support is paid to the parent the child resides with not the child. Tis a Federal Offense to avoid paying child support. Looking to meet a US Marshall?

You don't pay child support to
the child....you pay it to the
custodial parent.
Child support is paid to meet the basic needs of the child...
food/shelter/education/etc.
Whether or not the child attends school is not grounds
to withhold child support.
You can see a judge and
demand the child attends
school....or is the child
home-schooled?

If it's your child, drop the attempt to find excuses to get out of your responsibility. PAY THE CHILD SUPPORT!
If you think the other parent is doing a poor job raising the kid, then petition the court for custody instead of trying to leave the kid and the other parent in the lurch on the flimsy excuse that the kid isn't going to school.

If they are under the age of 18 and have NOT been legally emancipated you still by LAW must pay child support. Nice try though.

how old is the child? if the child is under 18 it doesnt matter. this child is entitled to support payment. (food/shelter/clothing etc) If the child is over 18 USUALLY the child does need to be enrolled in some form of school. Check the custody papers.

Child support goes by age NOT in school or not.
You pay child support until the child turns 18!

c c is right but please try & have somewhat of a decent relationship with your ex no matter how much you want to kill them. If you're not a neglectful parent, you should have a say in whether or not your child goes to school. PS zeebya you're a real man
