Larijani doubles as Iran's top negotiator on nuclear issues and foreign polity and enjoys close relations with Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has final say over all SNSC decisions. "Decisions in Iran are made by consensus rather than decree"

Since Ahmadinejad's rise to power in Iran, the real power now lies with the Shiite clergy and their supreme religious leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
With this in mind, the rhetoric we hear from Ahmadinejad should be taken seriously since if he were not echoing the policies and objectives of the real people in control, he would not be president very long - or perhaps even alive.

When AhmaNutJob makes those statements he drives the price of oil up and makes BILLIONS!

He is a smart man, and we keep playing into his hands.

YOu are correct, we should ignore him, Israel will take care of Iran when the time is right, and we are only helping him to stay in power by reacting to him.

He has no official control.

Are you really unaware of the influence he holds?

Then perhaps the educational system does need an overhaul.

Because he's the chosen figurehead by the people who actually have power. Thus, when he says something it is speaking in their behalf.
