This report is a load of ****. I was in Iraq last year (June) for 6 months and the base I was at (there are over 100 American bases in Iraq) had a death toll of 2-3 soldiers a week! That equates over 90 deaths in one year at *one* base. This report is so full of it. I used to see the news crews led around by the officers and they got treated real nice at the chow halls. LOL!!! whatever, what a joke. **** Bush, and anyone for this war (esp. Christians).

I said "especially" Christians since Bush is their poster boy. Who elected Bush? The Religious Right. Who thinks Iraq is "ripe for saving the lost"?

The "evil" Muslims, who worship the same Abrahamic deity.

Bush tries to show the image that "Jesus backs him" in this "just war". Constantine, anyone?

Thank those for the kind words; I almost bought the farm several times.

And no, I have survived two wars; first was the Serbian War of 1999, then Iraq last year. I have my foreign duty medal, but am now a prior serviceman who thankfully left honorably.

You never truly know what to believe when it comes to the government or persons that report the news. Call me crazy, but, the American government is as sinister and invasive as any communist or dictator gov ever was. The news that stations are allowed to release is controlled by the gov. Even the military only lets the news folks see what they want them to. Thats why they take them where they want them to go and show them what they want YOU to see. Its all really like a trip to North Korea. Most people are just like sheep. They believe what they hear, generally, without question and form an opinion based on bad info. No wonder this country is in the crapper!

The press are only being allowed to see what our government wants them to see. If the media coverage now was like it was during the Vietnam war, half the country would be in Washington protesting the wasted lives of our soldiers, as well as the money wasted on this endless mistake of a war. It is a shame that people like you are stuck risking your life in a backward country where so many people are bent on finding as many creative ways to kill and torture people as possible. As for the Christians, not all of them are for the war, but alas, I fear some of them think this is some kind of a crusade. I am glad you made it home in one piece.

It's the Bush administration that lies. The mainstream media (AP) just report what they are told. They don't follow up on stories or ask tough questions. I heard from a military mother that they don't report the wounded that die in Germany and other countries like Afghanistan. I am glad you made it back. Most of the independant reporting on Iraq is on the internet. Take care.

First, why is a non-believer who supports the war better than a Christian? HONEST newsflash: Most Christians hate what's going on in Iraq. A few loud people of ANY group ruin the reputation of all associated with them. If you think true Christians are supporting war, you're more uninformed than the citizens who follow the misleading reports. Ignorance is no excuse for MORE ignorance!
BTW - People close to my family who have served in Iraq say most reports are more accurate than false.

Wow, that's a lot more than we're hearing. Of course, I don't know whether to believe you. Sorry to be disrespectful, but it's hard to know from here if you're a jr. high kid or a Muslim from Algeria or a little old lady who is bored.

I also don't get the last line of your comment. What does any of this have to do with Christians? Christians are pretty much split in their support/opposition to the war, so I don't get why you would single them out. Are you harboring some animosity that's based somewhere else?

Trust me, I'm the first person to talk trash about the media, here but there is nothing wrong in this article.

If it's been a year ago since you were here, you're out of date. This place changes about every 90-120 days. It's changed since you've been gone.

Your opinion of Christians has nothing to do with this war.

Sad, what a price our young men and women pay because W's ego is on steroids. When W has a press conference,
he always starts off with a condescending joke, to set the tone to let the press know that he's the boss, then instead of not laughting, because W is not funny, he laught like lap dogs and W has them right where he wants them.

If the press had done their job and published the news before the war, we would never have gone to war. Rove's idea of "embedding" the news media has certainly worked, we don't get told **** about what is really happening over there.

Don't you realize it is the media that is in control? The pin is mightyer than the sword, they can destroy anyone they want, because of this the polititians cater to them. Although there are some that do not sell out because of them this counrty is still holding together. In the end they will be accounable to He that is mighter than all.Amen
