Hi, I'm and english person currently living in the US and you're not the first person to ask this. The answer is not only do we not celebrate it, most people won't even particularly notice it's July 4th. It has very little significance for us.

They celebrate losing the war on July 4th. France celebrates surrender day also on the 4th.

The U.S. declared independence on July 4th. England has no reason to celebrate on that day, since they did not have a particular event (unless you count losing a colony) occur on that date.

They didn't win their independence on that day. Not too many countries celebrate when they lose a war.

Love the Brits, love their sense of humor, love the people and their country. Heading there for a three-week vacation soon. Actually the best retort to "Good Riddance Day" would be for us Colonials to start celebrating Guy Fawkes Day. We're planning a Fawkes Day Dinner and Bonfire at our house this year! (Remember, remember the fifth of November, the gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot!)

Not many people do, but US expatriates might, and the embassy might hold a party.
