I have some questions about using WiFi on Pokemon Pearl.First how do you battle online? Second how do you trade online?

For the second question I mean is there any way to directly trade to someone.(Not over GTS and risk having someone else trade for it),

You use the basement of any pokecenter to do trading/battling online. You and your friend have to exchange friend's codes and then you will be able to battle wifi.
Battling on the union room does not require you to exchange friends codes and that person has to be in a 20 feet radius.

well first you have to encounter someone wirelessly under ground batlle etc or manualy put it in the freind code after that you can battle online but you can only battle people on your palpad and with your second question same answer as above but when it say the menu on wifi instead of batlle put in trade

also if you dont want to get friend codes you can go to battle tower online. battle tower is in the north east island and is the city furthest southwest.
