it's a double edge philosophy..
it can either mean KARMA or VENDETTA(self imposed)
:-)
the first one is the Law of the universe..
the planets go on circular or elliptical orbits..
going back around & around on the same cycle....
from the grandeur of the cosmos to the tiniest molecule..
the circle of life is indeed a never ending journey..
so never worry for what youve lost...
someone in the circle is meant to gain it in your place..
you will get yours in it's proper place & time...

the 2nd one is the other side of Karma, more known as Vendetta(a prolonged cycle of retaliation)
it's choosing between justice & injustice, equality & oppression...youve got to stop the negative recurrence..
because watch out, vengeful karma is a deadly boomerang...
if you dont know the right moment to throw & catch it,
you'd end up being knocked out
:-)

In my opinion, it is best not to create expectations.
Sometimes we get more than we expect and sometimes
less, but often we do not get exactly what we expect.
This also applies for expecting what someone else
will get. We are better off to live as responsible
neighbors and to focus on those responsibilities.

I didn't star your question because you didn't include
the applications you were considering as you decided
to word the question with "true for everything". A
question worth considering, but more details on
the premise do help.

Oh yes.Karmr is very much alive. I am very carful with what I do and say. I will think first cuz' I don't want it to come back to me in a bad way. I help people when I can. I sometimes put myself out there a little to far. But I know I will be ok in the long run.

Didn't that saying originate from pagan practices? "What goes around comes back three times as strong"

If you believe in Wicca or meta-physical stuff, i suppose that is a yes. If not, there is no scientific proof to such a thing. No basis whatsoever, there is only the hope that it does not come back to you when you are dead ;)

If not in this life, in the next. Pretty much the root of the meaning. But since many people only believe you live once...they apply it to mean in this life. The next life could be a punishment for the wrongs you made in this life...and man, next time you won't even know why that crap is happening to you.

But I think people should be good for the sake of being good, not because they'll possibly be punished for it.

I don't think that this is NECESSARILY true for all things. Unconditional love is something that goes around but doesn't necessarily come around and that's why it's called unconditional love. Rich people get richer, the poor get poorer. How is that what goes around comes around.

Yes

Law of attraction.

If you think it then it has the potential to come around to you. Even negative thoughts have the ability to take a form after you have thought or meditated on it long enough.

I think of it more in terms of cause and effect. If you lie to people all the time, eventually you will get caught in one or more of your lies, and people will no longer like you or trust you. Likewise, if you are kind to people all of the time, at least some of those people will take a liking to you. People generally react positively to good behavior and negatively to bad behavior. What a surprise!

Yes it is true for EVERYTHING and if you start paying attention to all the little and large details in your life you will see how it is by far without a doubt true for everything.
